OPINION:
“Consumers window-shop on Obamacare 2.0” (Web, Nov. 11) mentions various options and websites available for the upcoming Obamacare sign-up period. Washington Times journalist Tom Howell Jr. writes, “Consumers will also find non-government sites that connect users with health plans or brokers.” However, what if you would like to first see the options available to you without divulging any personal information? There is a site that allows you to do so.
The Kaiser Family Foundation provides an easy-to-use form on its website, kff.org. Anyone can go to this free, anonymous calculator without entering their name, Social Security number or address, and it takes only five minutes. Simply list your state, income and number of family members and submit. A report will immediately be generated, echoing your inputs and detailing available subsidy options, out-of-pocket costs and other coverage options.
It would be nice to have such a report in front of you if and when you do subsequently “connect with health plans or brokers” on other sites.
