Former President George W. Bush said he’s sure President Obama is “disappointed” about his party’s performance in the 2014 midterms, but appeared to understand where the American electorate was coming from.
“It’ll be fascinating to watch the level of cooperation develop, and I hope it does,” Mr. Bush said in an interview that aired Monday on NBC’s “Today” show. “The other thing is, people get kind of tired of a president after awhile — I’m a pro.”
Mr. Bush, whose party had a disastrous 2006 midterm election performance when he was in office, said it will be interesting to watch the extent to which Mr. Obama reaches out to presumptive Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker John A. Boehner, “both of whom I’ve talked to, both of whom do want to work with the president to get things done.”
