CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Hundreds of young writers are honing their craft and being recognized for their work in Charleston.

West Virginia’s Young Writers Day is being held Friday at the University of Charleston. The writers participated in a statewide competition for students in first through 12th grades.

Singer-songwriter and Goldenseal Magazine editor John Lilly is scheduled to address the students, then lead a writing workshop. The day’s events also include workshops by other authors from the region and recognition of county and state winners.
