ST. LOUIS (AP) - A long-time trial judge who graduated from Saint Louis University and has taught at its law school returns as the school’s spring commencement speaker.
St. Louis Circuit Judge Jimmie Edwards received his bachelor’s degree from the university in 1978 and his law degree from its law school four years later.
He was appointed to the circuit court in 1992 and is the founder of Innovation Concept Academy, an alternative school for juvenile offenders.
Edwards will also be among five recipients of honorary degrees at the May 17 graduation. The others are philanthropist Peggy Ritter; computer entrepreneur David Steward and his wife, Thelma; and theologian Joseph Allen Tetlow, a former SLU professor.
