OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma Forestry Services says next week is the deadline for teens to register for a one-of-a-kind camp adventure in the forest.
The forestry agency says space is filling up for its 58th Annual Youth Forestry Camp in Beaver’s Bend State Park June 2-7. The deadline for registering is May 16.
“Catching Fire” is this year’s theme, with campers learning about fire ecology and how fire affects the forest’s ecosystem. Hands-on activities with natural resource professionals will include wildlife management, forestry management, stream ecology and fire management. Campers also enjoy daily recreational activities such as swimming, hiking, canoeing, archery and fishing.
Youth Forestry Camp is open to boys and girls ages 13 -15. The fee for campers is $175 and covers all costs including lodging, meals, transportation, field trips and workshops.
