CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - Officials say a 15-year-old has been seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Cedar Rapids.
Cedar Rapids police say the teen was walking at an intersection Friday afternoon when he was hit by a minivan making a left turn.
Greg M. Buelow, public safety communications coordinator for the city, says the boy was seriously injured and found unconscious. Additional information about his injuries or treatment was not available. The teen’s name has not been released.
The driver of the vehicle, 44-year-old Robert Coover, Jr., has been arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license. Additional charges are possible. Court records do not list an attorney.
Coover was found at a nearby parking lot. Officials say he called authorities about the crash, but additional information was not released.
