UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) - Prince George’s County prosecutors say a Fort Washington man awaiting trial in a case stemming from a police officer’s death in a crash during a pursuit is now facing witness retaliation and obstruction of justice charges.
Prosecutors say Kevon Neal, who was indicted Thursday, sought to have a witness killed.
Neal already faces manslaughter and other charges after authorities say he and another man stole a car and fled police in 2012. Officer Adrian Morris died after a crash during the pursuit.
Prosecutors say Neal sent a letter from jail soliciting a hit against a witness who testified at his January trial that ended in a mistrial. That witness is expected to testify at Neal’s retrial next month.
Prosecutors plan to consolidate the witness retaliation charges with the earlier charges.
