KIRKVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say they’re looking for a convicted felon who failed to show up for his trial on charges that he kept dozens of firearms at his central New York home.
Officials tell local media that 56-year-old Edward Atkins of Kirkville in Madison County was scheduled to go on trial Monday on charges stemming from his arrest in October 2012. State police say they seized several handguns, nearly 60 rifles and shotguns, and a large amount of ammunition at his home just east of Syracuse.
As a convicted felon, Atkins is prohibited from possessing firearms.
When he didn’t appear in court Monday, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
