MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A couple has donated $500,000 to the University of Montevallo to fund its first academic chair.

Michael and Donna Grainger of Franklin, Tenn., pledged the money to the university’s business college to support a faculty member.

University President John Stewart III said the endowment will allow the school to attract a top-rate professor to work with students. Al.com (https://bit.ly/QnF5G5 ) reports that Michael Grainger graduated from Montevallo in 1973 after studying accounting. He retired as president and COO of Ingram Micro Inc.
