CODY, Wyo. (AP) - The Cody Veterans of Foreign Wars post says it needs to lease part of its building or sell it outright to make ends meet.
The Cody Enterprise reported Wednesday (https://tinyurl.com/mh6unkc ) that VFW Post 2673 says participation by veterans and contributions from the community are declining.
Jean Collier, the post’s business manager, says the group still has 350 members on its rolls but fewer are turning out. World War II and Korean veterans are dying and fewer veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan are joining.
She says many of the members have out-of-state addresses.
The post remains active in the community, helping with last month’s Special Olympics and offering its honor guard.
Senior Vice Commander Bill Buntyn says the post would rather partially lease the building than sell.
