HAVERHILL, Mass. (AP) - Authorities say a woman with a toddler in her arms was injured when she jumped from a second-floor balcony during a three-alarm fire at a Haverhill apartment complex.

The woman, whose name was not released by officials, was taken to a Boston hospital with undisclosed injuries that are not considered life-threatening. The child was treated at a local hospital.

Family members say the woman is 23 and the child is an 18-month-old boy.

The fire at the Forest Acres apartment complex was reported early Wednesday afternoon.

Officials say 16 units in two buildings were affected and nearly 50 people were displaced.

The cause remains under investigation.
