DOVER PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 25-year-old upstate New York woman is in critical condition after she was hit by a vehicle as she tried to flee from state troopers taking her to jail.
State police say Brandi Perri of Dover Plains and a 26-year-old man from Wingdale had been arraigned Wednesday night on criminal possession of stolen property charges after they were found with items from a burglary.
Troopers at the Dover Plains barracks were placing the two into a patrol vehicle to take them to the Dutchess County Jail when Perri bolted and ran into Route 22, where she was struck by a vehicle.
She was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, where she was listed in critical condition with multiple injuries.
The incident is being investigated.
