JORDAN, N.Y. (AP) - The athletic director for a central New York school district has resigned after an investigation into money missing from tickets sold for sports events.
School board officials say 44-year-old Eric Varney of Clay resigned two weeks ago, a day after the Jordan-Elbridge School District began its investigation.
School board president David Gallaro did not say how much money was missing when he announced Varney’s departure Wednesday night. Gallaro says Varney, who was also an assistant principal in the district, has paid back the missing money.
State Police tell the Post-Standard of Syracuse (https://bit.ly/1sqI1Qp ) they’ve advised the district they consider the matter closed because restitution was made.
As required, the district has notified the State Education Department of the investigation and its conclusion.
