FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - Northwest Alabama is about to lose nearly 200 jobs.

Officials with HON Inc. say they are closing their furniture manufacturing plant in Florence.

The factory employs 190 people, but it’s shutting down by the end of the year.

Company spokesman Gary Carlson says the plant will close in phases. It makes office furniture and tables.

HON is owned by HIN Corp., which is based in Muscatine, Iowa. The company purchased the Lauderdale County plant in 1997.
