GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) - Greenwood police say an arrest has been made in the Sunday shooting in Broad Street Park that left two - including an eighth- grader - wounded.
Acting Police Chief Ray Moore tells The Greenwood Commonwealth (https://bit.ly/1s6KE84 ) that 25-year-old Robert Phillips of Greenwood is charged with two counts of aggravated assault. Phillips is awaiting an initial court appearance.
Moore says 14-year-old Xavier Hunt suffered a chest wound in the shooting and was in stable condition Wednesday at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Moore says investigators believe the boy was an innocent bystander.
Moore says the teen’s cousin, 25-year-old Renaldo Hunt, was treated Sunday night for a thigh wound and was released from Greenwood Leflore Hospital.
He says the investigation into the shooting is continuing.
