ALBANY, Ore. (AP) - Oregon’s psychiatric review board has decided against community treatment for a Linn County man convicted of killing his mother.
The Albany Democrat-Herald reports (https://bit.ly/SBJ3gp) that Josh Lee Shaddon’s case was up for review, required every two years. A board lawyer told Shaddon Wednesday he should continue working with the staff at the Oregon State Hospital.
Shaddon was found guilty except for insanity in 2011. He has maintained he can’t remember stabbing 48-year-old Gerlene Thorne of Brownsville. He testified Wednesday that he’d been framed.
At the hospital, he’s been diagnosed as suffering from psychosis linked to methamphetamine withdrawal at the time of the stabbing.
A psychiatrist testified Shaddon was in denial about his substance abuse and relapse risk, and his engagement in treatment was “superficial at best.”
