NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Authorities in New Orleans say an arrest warrant was issued for a former Orleans Parish Sheriff’s deputy after an investigation into a fight involving a jail inmate.

Sheriff Marlin Gusman and District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro said the warrant was issued Thursday for the arrest of Lateefa Marshal. Their news release said the investigation involves a March 29th fight between Marshal and a female inmate.

Marshall allegedly filed an incident report stating that the inmate initiated the fight. However, Gusman and Cannizzaro said surveillance video shows that Marshal started the fight.

The charge listed on the warrant, which was dated Wednesday, is malfeasance in office.
