DETROIT (AP) - A 19-year-old Detroit man charged in the mob beating of a motorist who accidentally struck a child with his pickup is expected to be released from jail on a GPS tether.
The Detroit News reports (https://bit.ly/QiV6x1 ) Thursday that Latrez Cummings has made his $25,000 bond.
Latrez, 30-year-old Wonzey Saffold, 24-year-old James Davis and 17-year-old Bruce Wimbush Jr. face August trials. Each is charged with assault with intent to murder in the April 2 attack on 54-year-old Steve Utash.
A 16-year-old boy is charged as a juvenile with assault and ethnic intimidation.
Utash was beaten after he stopped to help a 10-year-old boy who stepped in front of his truck.
The newspaper reports that Utash of Clinton Township has been moved from a hospital to a rehabilitation center.
