RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island man has been found guilty of fatally shooting a woman and then hiding her body.
Mandy Jo Jenkins, of Amityville, was killed as she slept on Aug. 23, 2010.
David Newbeck was convicted of second-degree murder and hindering prosecution on Wednesday.
According to Newsday (https://nwsdy.li/1mFGXok ), Jenkins was killed after she refused to withdraw an identity theft charge against Newbeck’s girlfriend.
Last fall, Jenkins’ boyfriend, Joseph DeFelice, was convicted of his role in the murder.
Prosecutors say DeFelice let Newbeck into the apartment he shared with Jenkins.
They say Newbeck dumped the body in Lindenhurst while DeFelice cleaned the blood-spattered bedroom.
