RENTON, Wash. (AP) - King County Sheriff John Urquhart says someone on foot fired gunshots Tuesday night at a vehicle that deputies had pulled over in the Skyway area south of Seattle.
No one was injured but the sheriff says one deputy was at the driver’s window, talking to him, when the gunfire started. KOMO-TV reports the car and a nearby apartment building were hit by gunshots.
The sheriff says two deputies driving separate cars had pulled over a vehicle with expired tabs.
The shooter jumped into a car and took off. A search for that person was underway late Tuesday night.
Officers say they believe the gunman was firing at the vehicle, not at deputies.
