OTTUMWA, Iowa (AP) - A judge has rejected an Iowa man’s request to delay his third trial in the 2012 death of his pregnant wife.
The Ottumwa Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1kME5ET ) Judge Daniel Wilson rejected the request Wednesday morning. It was made in early May by an attorney for Seth Techel.
Techel is charged with first-degree murder and nonconsensual termination of a human pregnancy. His wife, Lisa, was several months pregnant when she was found shot in the couple’s trailer in southeast Iowa.
Techel’s first two trials ended in mistrials. A third trial is set for July 14 in Davenport.
The Iowa Supreme Court in April rejected a bid by Techel to have his bond reduced pending trial. He remains jailed.
