READING, Pa. (AP) - Two men convicted of having conveyed weapons to a man who later killed an eastern Pennsylvania sheriff’s deputy have been sentenced to prison terms.
The Reading Eagle (https://bit.ly/1lUihKh ) reports that 28-year-old Jared Engleman of Maxatawny Township was sentenced Monday in Berks County to two to four years in prison for conspiracy to transfer an AK-47 to 25-year-old Matthew Connor, a felon barred from owning firearms.
Authorities said Connor later killed 28-year-old deputy sheriff Kyle Pagerly in 2011 before being killed himself. Engleman’s attorney sought a shorter sentence, saying his client wasn’t a danger to society.
Connor’s father, 73-year-old Maurice Connor, was earlier sentenced in a separate hearing to six to 23 months in prison. He pleaded no contest to providing a handgun later found on his son’s body.
