NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) - State authorities say a central New Jersey man has pleaded guilty to distributing child porn.

Robert Knapp of Old Bridge was among 27 people arrested in 2012 in “Operation Watchdog,” a multi-agency investigation into an online child pornography ring. He entered his plea Monday.

State prosecutors will recommend the 49-year-old Knapp receive a five-year state prison term when he’s sentenced July 7. He also will have to register as a sex offender.

Knapp admitted that he knowingly used file sharing software to make child porn readily available for other users to download from a designated “shared folder” on his computer.

A search warrant executed by state police at Knapp’s apartment uncovered about 18 files containing child porn on his laptop computer, including video clips and photographic images.
