On May 5, Minnesota lawmakers approved state Sen. John Hoffman’s bill to change the name of a fish from “Asian carp” to “invasive carp.” Mr. Hoffman said some people of Asian descent have complained about the name. Since Asian carp were introduced in the United States in the 1970s, the fish have spread to dozens of states, causing destruction in the delicate ecosystems of the waterways.

I would like to suggest that “Asian flu” is an also offensive term. The new name should be changed to “IMYFT flu” (It Makes You Feel Terrible flu). After all, if it’s worth doing, it’s worth overdoing.
