BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say the police chief of a central New Jersey town was shot in the leg when his service weapon accidentally discharged inside the town’s municipal building.
The shooting occurred around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday in the tax collector’s office in the Bordentown Township municipal building.
Authorities say a juvenile caused the discharge that injured chief Frank Nucera, but further details on how it happened were not immediately disclosed. The wound Nucera suffered were not considered life-threatening and he was being treated at a hospital, but further details on his condition were not disclosed.
The municipal building was closed following the shooting.
No other injuries were reported.
