SOUTH TOMS RIVERS, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a house fire in South Toms River has claimed the life of one person and sent six firefighters to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Asbury Park Press reports (https://on.app.com/1htmHmj ) that the firefighters were searching for a trapped person in the home around 5:30 p.m. Monday when they were injured. Ocean County Fire Coordinator Brian Gabriel said the firefighters suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation and one had glass in his eye.

The name of the victim was not released Monday, pending positive identification.
