LAUREL, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Highway Patrol says a 24-year-old Jones County man has died in a one-vehicle accident when his car ran off eastbound U.S. 84 west of Laurel.
Patrol spokesman Brent Barfield said the accident occurred around 12:52 a.m. Sunday.
Barfield tells The Hattiesburg American (https://hatne.ws/Rgpt8d ) Derreck Jones was ejected from his 2003 Mercedes when the car ran off the road and struck a tree.
Barfield said Jones was not wearing his seat belt.
