SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) - Police have made an arrest in the beating of an actor who was assaulted in Silver Spring after the opening night of a performance.

Frank Britton, who was starring as Pontius Pilate in the Forum Theatre’s production of “The Last Days of Judas Iscariot,” was assaulted early Tuesday morning at a cab stand. Police say four to five people were involved in the attack.

Montgomery County police announced Friday that they’ve arrested one man, 18-year-old Elijah Smith of Washington. Police say they searched Smith’s home and found evidence related to the assault.

An understudy replaced Britton in the play, and friends set up a website to raise money for his medical expenses.
