NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - State police say a 50-year-old woman was killed while trying to cross North Dupont Highway in New Castle on foot.

State police say Rebecca Reese of Bear did not use a crosswalk when she walked into the highway shortly before 10 p.m. Friday, nor was she wearing reflective clothing or carrying a light.

Police say Reese was swiped by a car before she was hit by a pickup truck. She died at the scene. Both drivers remained at the scene and were not injured.

The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation.
