DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A man freed last year after being granted a new trial for a 1996 Des Moines is back behind bars.
The Des Moines Register says (https://dmreg.co/1oI4MjU ) David Flores was booked into the Polk County Jail early Saturday after being on the run for eight months. He is being held on a $61,000 bond.
Flores served 16 years for the shooting death of Phillis Davis before his conviction was overturned. The charges were refiled, but Flores reached a plea deal last year that kept him out of prison.
Once out, Flores was arrested three times in two months - the most recent in September for allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend.
Police say after bonding out, Flores skipped town. He was recently taken into custody by a bounty hunter in Phoenix, Arizona.
