SWANTON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say a store employee has been arrested in a May 22 toxic gas release at the Tractor Supply store in Swanton.

Police say 31-year-old Neal Burgoyne was arrested on charges of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He was cited and released and is scheduled to appear July 21 in Franklin District Court.

Police originally reported a chemical spill at the store earlier this month, but said Friday chemicals were mixed in a garbage can that made a toxic gas.

The store was evacuated and five employees were taken to a hospital for possible toxic fume inhalation. They were expected to be treated and released. A hazmat team also was dispatched.
