CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - A special enrollment period for Nevadans who had trouble purchasing health insurance because of problems with the state health exchange ends Friday.
Residents have until 11:59 p.m. Friday to sign up.
The state approved the special 60-day enrollment period because its Nevada Health Link website was plagued with problems that prevented people from completing the enrollment process. A state board fired Xerox, the builder and operator of the website last week.
Enrollment is far less than an initial target of 118,000.
Officials say help is available over the phone or in person for customers wanting assistance.
Nevada will partner with the federal government to handle enrollments and determine eligibility for the next enrollment period. That begins in November.
