CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - In a story May 28 about the robbery of a veteran, The Associated Press, relying on information from the local Secret Witness group, reported erroneously the age of the victim. He is 100 years old, not 101. Also, The Associated Press reported erroneously the man’s name. He is Jim Sorrentino, not Sorentino.

Secret Witness offers reward in home invasion of 100-year-old Carson City veteran

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Secret Witness is offering a $1,500 reward for the arrest and prosecution of suspects who robbed a 100-year-old Carson City veteran at his home over the Memorial Day weekend.

Authorities say the robbers forced their way into the home of a World War II Air Force veteran around 5 a.m. Sunday looking for a non-existent safe. One of the robbers had a gun.

The victim, Jim Sorrentino, told KRNV-TV that he lives alone with a caretaker in a gated community. He says his home was ransacked and the thieves stole a wristwatch, pocketknife and a wallet with about $30 in it.

The suspects are described as either black or Hispanic. Both are in their 20s. One is 5-foot-7, the other 5-foot-10.
