ANKENY, Iowa (AP) - A former Ankeny teacher has pleaded not guilty to a charge of sexual exploitation involving allegations of a relationship she had with a former Ankeny High School student.

Des Moines television station KCCI reports (https://bit.ly/1wyw0LW ) that 33-year-old Mandy Davenport entered the written plea Wednesday.

Davenport, of Des Moines, is charged with sexual exploitation by a school employee. Ankeny police say the student she is accused of abusing was a 17-year-old boy.

Last month, Davenport resigned her job as a language arts teacher at Ankeny Centennial High School, where she moved this year from Ankeny High.

She is set to go to trial on July 28.
