ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta public transportation officials say two arrests have been made in a fight involving two transgender women on a train May 20.

Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority officials said Friday that 34-year-old Luther Thomas and 35-year-old Frederick Missick of Atlanta have been arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and have been suspended from riding MARTA.

The two victims have told local media outlets they were attacked because they’re transgender. MARTA officials say representatives from the agency’s Diversity and Equal Opportunity office will work to strengthen outreach to the LGBTQ community.

A video of the attack was posted online and MARTA officials have said they struggled to gather details on the assault from witnesses.

It’s unclear if Thomas and Missick have attorneys.
