LOCKPORT, N.Y. (AP) - A man and woman from North Carolina have been sentenced for a fatal shooting that happened last fall when the couple traveled to Niagara Falls for a wedding.

Thirty-nine-year-old Tijuana Davis was shot in her apartment in Lockport, N.Y. on Sept. 28.

The Buffalo News reports (https://bit.ly/SkNwUq) that 50-year-old Richard H. Moore of Winston-Salem, N.C. was sentenced Friday to 17 years in prison for first-degree manslaughter in the death.

Moore’s girlfriend, 43-year-old Cammesoa M. Williams, was sentenced to five years’ probation for her role in the shooting.

Moore, Williams and Davis were all supposed to attend a Niagara Falls wedding.

Prosecutors said Moore shot Davis to break up a fight involving Davis, Williams and another woman.

Assistant Public Defender A. Joseph Catalano said the fight involved drugs and alcohol.
