HICKORY, N.C. (AP) - Authorities are investigating a fire that killed a 68-year-old Hickory man in his home.

Investigators said the fire appeared to start around 9 a.m. Friday both in the home and a garage that is not connected to the house.

Authorities say firefighters pulled James Allen from the home, but he could not be resuscitated.

Investigators used dogs trained to sniff for fire accelerants and asked the State Bureau of Investigation to help.
