ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The State Police Academy in Albany is hosting a training session aimed at reducing the number of law enforcement officers who die on duty.
The “Below 100” exercise on Monday will be the first staged in New York.
The national initiative aims to reduce the number of line of duty deaths to less than 100 a year nationally. In 2012, there were 120 deaths while on duty, down from 174 in 2010 and 2011.
Approximately 200 members of state, federal and local law enforcement agencies will be trained.
