MESHOPPEN, Pa. (AP) - The body of a New York man who disappeared in March has been found in the Susquehanna River in northeastern Pennsylvania.

The Wyoming County coroner’s office says the body was identified Friday as 43-year-old Thomas Christopher Yates, of Bellmore, New York. Yates’ body had been found Thursday near Meshoppen.

Yates had disappeared March 30 upriver in Laceyville.

The Times-Tribune of Scranton (https://bit.ly/1iMbov4 ) reports Yates’ death is under investigation by state police. Authorities say his older brother assaulted Yates’ twin brother the same morning Yates disappeared.

Officials say Yates was walking toward a bridge over the river at the time of the alleged assault, and both siblings noticed he was missing a short time later. The brothers had come from a funeral.
