ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (AP) - Detectives in eastern Tennessee are investigating after deputies found a working still inside of a house in Minton Hollow while checking on the welfare of a small child.

The Johnson City Press reported (https://bit.ly/1i1A3Kp ) that Carter County deputies went to the home Tuesday and the homeowner allowed them in. The sheriff’s office says that, once inside, deputies saw a copper still in plain view inside a master bedroom.

Deputy Roger Brown says the still had a mash barrel, thumper, keg, worm and cap assembly. Brown says there were several five gallon water bottles, which were possibly used for mash bottles.

The complete still was logged in as evidence and the Criminal Investigations Division was asked to follow up. No charges were filed. The children were found in good health.
