LAKEWOOD, N.J. (AP) - Authorities have identified the construction worker who was seriously injured this week when a pickup truck accidentally backed over him at a work site on the Garden State Parkway.

State police tell the Asbury Park Press (https://on.app.com/1kvO5Bf) that 60-year-old Carlos Tovar of Paterson was hospitalized in serious condition with a head injury suffered in Thursday afternoon’s accident in Lakewood.

Tovar was among a crew working at milepost 91.4 on the parkway’s southbound side when he was struck by the truck, which is owned by a Barnegat-based construction firm and was driven by a 33-year-old Jackson Township man.

No charges have been filed in the accident, which remains under investigation.
