SUMMIT, N.J. (AP) - State police say two people were killed when the car they were in collided with a tractor-trailer that was parked on the shoulder of an interstate highway in northern New Jersey.

The Star-Ledger (https://bit.ly/1nTYhtD) reports the crash on westbound I-78 in Summit occurred around 4 a.m. Saturday. The subsequent investigation spurred authorities to shut down a stretch of the highway for several hours.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the two people killed in the crash. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.



The truck driver was not injured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
