MADISON, Maine (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of an inmate at the Somerset County Jail.
Jail Administrator Cory Swope says guards found 27-year-old Joseph Daoust, of Wilton, unresponsive during a routine security check shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday.
Efforts to revive Daoust failed and he was pronounced dead at the jail.
Further testing is required after an autopsy failed to determine a cause of death.
The Sun Journal (https://bit.ly/1nwAHnD) reports that Daoust was being held on $10,000 cash bail on charges including criminal threatening for allegedly holding a gun to the head of a 14-year-old boy earlier this month. He was also charged with giving marijuana to two teens.
