NAVARRE BEACH, Fla. (AP) - The search for a missing 21-year-old swimmer is expected to resume in the Gulf of Mexico off Navarre Beach near Pensacola.
Authorities say the man and his sister were swimming when they got into trouble in heavy surf on Wednesday afternoon. The woman made it safely to shore.
The Navarre Beach Fire Department, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission crews and the U.S. Coast Guard searched unit thunderstorms and darkness forced them to stop for the night. The search was set to resume Thursday morning.
Santa Rosa Sheriff’s spokesman Rich Aloy told the Pensacola News Journal (https://on.pnj.com/TWA4a3 ) surf conditions were dangerous on Wednesday afternoon.
