OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) - The Ocean Springs Public Works Department will work with Jackson County to remove 250 feet of sidewalk panels from its beachfront.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1kNqBeO ) the city’s Board of Aldermen approved the removal at a special meeting Wednesday.

The beach that protects the sidewalk along Front Beach has eroded in one spot and wave action has been pulling sand from beneath the boardwalk, causing separation and cracks.

The removal will take place along the area where the sidewalk collapsed a little over a week ago.
