GASTONIA, N.C. (AP) - A Dallas man has been sentenced to 19 years in prison for killing his brother during a fight outside their mother’s house more than two years ago.
Prosecutors said 49-year-old David Scott Ramsey was sentenced Wednesday in Gaston County Superior Court after pleading guilty to second-degree murder last October. He was originally charged with first-degree murder.
Brenda Ramsey testified that she was inside her home on April 6, 2012, when Scott Ramsey, stormed in, took her gun and shot Michael Kevin Ramsey. Brenda Ramsey said she performed CPR on her wounded son and called 911.
Sentencing stalled in November when David Scott Ramsey’s attorney was removed from the case.
