MINOT, N.D. (AP) - Construction could start in the fall on the first phase of a flood control project in Minot.
The Minot Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1kq49c4 ) that an engineering firm is completing design work on proposed concrete flood walls in the area of the city’s water treatment plant. The federal government is paying 75 percent of the $25 million project.
Minot is working to protect its water treatment plant from Souris River floods like the one in June 2011, which swamped a good part of the city.
Completion of the first phase is expected in the spring of 2016.
