BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (AP) - A doctor says a suburban Chicago woman is unfit to stand trial for the death of her six-month-old granddaughter.

The Southtown Star reports (https://bit.ly/1kq3OpA ) Alfreda Giedrojc (gad-ROYDZ’) will have a hearing in June where a judge will decide the matter.

The 62-year-old from Oak Lawn is charged with first-degree murder after authorities say she used a sledgehammer to kill Vivian Summers in October 2013. Prosecutors say the woman also used a kitchen knife to slit the baby’s throat.

The newspaper says Assistant Public Defender Michael Wilson declined to comment on the doctor’s decision.

She’s set to appear in court again on June 4.
