MOUNT BERRY, Ga. (AP) - Officials at a college in northwest Georgia say they’re finding a new location for a proposed stadium out of respect for a bald eagle’s nest.
Berry College officials said Wednesday that the proposed Valhalla stadium site will be moved because of a nest that has been in a pine tree near the school’s athletic center since 2012.
Berry College officials say two cameras mounted near the nests and streaming online video of the eagles has brought nearly 60,000 followers to a Facebook page dedicated to the birds.
In a statement, Berry College officials said the school anticipates the stadium’s construction will begin during the 2015-16 academic year. The stadium will host football, lacrosse and track and field programs.
