MADRAS, Ore. (AP) - Rescue crews in Central Oregon have recovered the body of a Corvallis sushi chef from the Metolius River, where he’d been fishing from the shore.
The Jefferson County sheriff’s office says 62-year-old Isamu “Sam” Furuichi stumbled and fell into the swift river on Monday.
The Bend Bulletin reports (https://bit.ly/SftH05) that kayakers found his body 2.3 miles downstream on Tuesday. He was wearing chest waders but not a life jacket. The sheriff’s department says alcohol and drugs are not believed to have played a role in the accident.
